Five killed in Jehlum cylinder blast
At least five people were killed and several others received critical injuries when a three-storey building collapsed due to a powerful LPG cylinder blast in Jhelum.

According to details, a cylinder exploded in the kitchen of a three-storey hotel on GT Road, resulting in the collapse of a building.

As a result, five people lost their lives and as many as 12 people were injured in the tragic incident.

According to officials, five bodies had been recovered and shifted to the Jhelum District Headquarters Hospital along with the 10 injured.

Officials said the explosion took place at around 9:45am today, following which the rescue teams “immediately responded and initiated rescue efforts”.

A seriously injured patient was referred to the Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi.

A statement issued by Rescue 1122 said one of the seriously injured could not be identified yet while all deceased persons have been identified.

Meanwhile, an “emergency” has been imposed in the District Headquarters Hospital and the entire staff and doctors have been called on duty.

A day ago, at least seven people were killed and 14 others were injured when a vehicle’s gas cylinder exploded in the Bhalwal tehsil of Punjab’s Sargodha district.
