Writer and poet Amjad Islam Amjad passes away at 78

Renowned drama writer and poet Amjad Islam Amjad passed away on Friday in Lahore due to sudden cardiac arrest. He was not suffering from any chronic disease and died at the age of 78. His funeral has not been announced yet but his burial will take place in Lahore. PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow at the famed poet and screenwriter’s passing. He prayed for the deceased’s soul and a high rank in heaven for him. He also sent his condolences to his family. “Amjad Islam Amjad gave Pakistan memorable TV dramas such as Waris, Fishar and Samandar. His literary contributions will be remembered for ages. Kubra Khan asked to cooperate with FIA in defamation case against YouTuber

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has asked actress Rabia Iqbal Khan, famously known as Kubra Khan, to cooperate with the inquiry being carried out by the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) in a scandalous and defamatory campaign against her. During a hearing on Monday, the court also directed the FIA and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to block defamatory and scandalous online content on social media sites against Khan. On December 31, UK-based YouTuber and retired army officer Adil Farooq Raja levelled serious allegations against some actresses without naming them and by mentioning their initials — S.A, K.K, M.H and H.K. However, unhappy fans and netizens attached the names of four actresses, forcing them to respond to the allegations on social media. Co-creator of the famous cartoon Scooby-Doo, Ken Spears passes away

Co-creator of the famous cartoon Scooby-Doo, Ken Spears passed away at the age of 82 on Friday. The news was confirmed by his son Kevin who told Variety that his father breathed his last following complications that arose from Lewy body dementia. “Ken will forever be remembered for his wit, his storytelling, his loyalty to family and his strong work ethic,” said Kevin. “Ken has not only made a lasting impression on his family, but he has touched the lives of many as co-creator of ‘Scooby-Doo.’ Ken has been a role model for us throughout his life and he will continue to live on in our hearts,” he went on to say. Spears had created the iconic cartoon series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! back in 1969 alongside his writing partner and cartoonist Joe Ruby who had also passed away earlier this year in August.

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry can earn upto $1 million for single speech

Meghan Markle and husband Prince Harry, who quit royal duties to become financially independent at the start of this year, can earn as much as $1 million for a single speech according to a document leaked on Tuesday. The British media quoting the leaked document reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are currently stay in Los Angeles, signed up to Harry Walker Agency, a New York-based speakers’ bureau, in June. The agency released a four-page ‘Virtual Event Request Form’ which details the demands of Prince Harry and Meghan as virtual speakers. Robert Pattinson's positive test on 'Batman' set underscores challenges for Hollywood

British actor Robert Pattinson has tested positive for COVID-19, news media reported on Thursday, halting production of “The Batman” and highlighting the industry’s struggles to get back to business after months of a pandemic-induced shutdown. Movie studio Warner Bros. said in a statement that “a member of ‘The Batman’ production” in Britain had tested positive for the coronavirus, but did not give a name. “Filming is temporarily paused,” the studio’s statement added, but did not say for how long. Variety, the Hollywood Reporter and Vanity Fair all cited sources as saying the person who tested positive was Pattinson, the film’s star. Warner Bros. and Pattinson’s representatives did not return calls seeking comment. Court approves Saba Qamar, Bilal Saeed's bail request in mosque video case

A court granted Pakistani actress Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed bail in a case pertaining to the filming of a song at Lahore's historic Wazir Khan Mosque on Thursday. Both the accused appeared in the courtroom today to have their attendance registered at the hearing. During the hearing, Qamar's lawyer contended that his client was innocent and did not violate the sanctity of the mosque. However, the investigating officer said that police had not yet received the video of the song's shooting that had gone viral on the internet. Lahore Sessions Court judge Chaudhry Qasim ali ruled in favour of Qamar and Saeed's interim petitions, granting them bail. After granting the bail, the judge said that the matter of reward or compensation will be decided at the trial. Wrestler-turned-movie star Dwayne Johnson clung to the top slot on the list of the world’s highest-paid male actors for a second straight year, according to an annual tally released by Forbes magazine on Tuesday. Johnson, also known by his ring name ‘The Rock’, earned $87.5 million from June 1, 2019 to June 1, 2020, Forbes said, including $23.5 million from Netflix Inc to star in movie thriller “Red Notice.” He also benefited from his ‘Project Rock’ fitness wear line for Under Armour Inc. Ryan Reynolds, who co-stars with Johnson in “Red Notice,” came in second in the Forbes ranking of male stars.
