PM Imran summons federal cabinet meeting tomorrow

Prime Minister Imran Khan has summoned federal cabinet meeting on Tuesday (tomorrow) to discuss nine-point agenda including Kashmir conflict, ARY News reported on Monday. As per details, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will brief the cabinet members about so far progress made on the Kashmir issue and situation after the UNSC session will also come under discussion. The cabinet will also review the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and recommendations of the Special Committee on Kashmir will also be presented in the meeting. The meeting will also get a briefing from the ministry of communications to review its one-year performance. Approval of Rs.5billion loan for the low costing houses and Pak-Turk Strategic Economic Framework will also be green signaled. Military court case: SC rejects govt plea for constitution of full court bench

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has rejected a government plea to constitute a full court bench to decide the issue of civilian trials in military courts. The government had urged the court to set up a full court on the question. The was heard by a six-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, which reserved its judgment on Tuesday. The bench ruled that judges were not available for the constitution of full court bench due to summer vacations. The bench includes Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Ayesha Malik. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court remarked during the hearing yesterday (on Tuesday) that there should be an independent body to review whether the arrests were made on valid grounds or not. COVID-19 claims 39 more lives,1,043 fresh cases report in pakistan within 24 hrs

COVID-19 has claimed 39 more lives in Pakistan during the past 24 hours, lifting the overall death toll to 21,913. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, the country’s caseload climbed to 945,184 after 1,043 more people tested positive for the deadly virus during this period. The positivity rate was recorded at 1.90 per cent. The new infections emerged when 54,647 tests were conducted during the said period. With 1,410 recoveries over the past 24 hours, the total number of recovered patients has reached 888,505, while the total number of tests to diagnose the pandemic is recorded at 14,026,336. Punjab remains the worst-hit province as 344,641 cases have been reported so far since the pandemic outbreak.
