Shakib’s injury a headache for Bangladesh

Shakib Al Hasan was absent from the toss against Sri Lanka in their opening warm-up fixture of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Mehidy Hasan Miraz came out for the toss in Guwahati. As per a few news reports, Shakib is not doing well, and his heel has a lot of swelling.

He injured himself while playing football with his teammate before the game against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh camp was in shock after Shakib’s injury, as he is their X-factor player in the mega event in India.

Bangladesh camp will be looking to get Shakib Al Hasan fit as early as possible and lead the side in the opening game against Afghanistan. Being an all-rounder and having experience of playing in four World Cup events before, Shakib remains Bangladesh’s key figure, along with Mushfiqur Rahim, in the 15-member squad.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz will be leading Bangladesh against Sri Lanka and then against England in their second warm-up fixture in Guwahati on October 2.

Shakib Al Hasan has been in wonderful form and played two crucial innings in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023 tournament. He scored 80 runs against India to help his team win the game by 6 runs and 53 runs against Pakistan to take his team out of crisis.

Shakib will be holding the key for Bangladesh not only as a player but also as a leader of the squad in World Cup campaign. Bangladesh are considered dark horses and can trouble any team in the tournament.
