Imran submits affidavit in contempt of court case

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has submitted the affidavit in the contempt of court case against him for threatening Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry.

According to details, the former premier has submitted his affidavit in Islamabad High Court (IHC) in a contempt of court case for passing controversial remarks against Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry.

In his affidavit, Imran Khan vowed to comply with the statement given on September 22 before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the last hearing. “I am ready to apologise if the judges think I had crossed a red line,” he added.

The PTI Chairman reiterated, “My intention was not to threaten the female judge. Taking action meant nothing but legal action.”

It is pertinent to mention here that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) decided not to frame charges against Imran Khan in the contempt of court case against him.

According to details, the IHC deferred contempt proceedings against Imran Khan after the former premier expressed the willingness to apologise to Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry.

The former premier noted that his intentions were not to threaten the female judge. “It the court says so, I am ready to personally go to the judge and apologise,” he said, adding that he would not repeat something like this in the future.

Following this, IHC CJ Athar Minallah remarked that it would not be appropriate to conduct contempt proceedings. The court directed Imran Khan to submit an affidavit in light of his statement to the court.

The footage was captured by International Space Station (ISS) on September 28.

It shows the hurricane enveloping the entire region around Florida in a scary white hue. The video looks terrifying and appears to show the hurricane engulfing everything into it.

Pakistan reports another polio case in North Waziristan

Poliovirus was detected in a ten-month-old baby in North Waziristan.
Pakistan has reported another case of poliovirus from the mountainous North Waziristan, taking this year’s tally of crippling disease to 20.

According to Health Ministry officials confirmed Friday that poliovirus was detected in a ten-month-old baby in North Waziristan’s Union Council Ghulam Khan, an area located near the border of Afghanistan..

This is the 17th case of poliovirus that has been reported from North Waziristan this year.

According to media reports, during September, a total of five cases of poliovirus was reported. Of these, three were from North Waziristan and one each from South Waziristan and Lakki Marwat.

Polio or poliomyelitis is a crippling and life-threatening disease caused by the poliovirus. It leads to acute flaccid paralysis in 1 out of 2,000 people infected by the virus.

However, in many cases, symptoms are not visible and a fourth of the infected persons experience flu-like symptoms such as sore throat, fever, nausea, stomach pain, headache, and tiredness, according to information shared by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The CDC warns that poliovirus could also cause meningitis (infection of the spinal cord and/or brain) occurs in about 1-5% of persons infected with the poliovirus (depending on the virus type).

Even children who seem to fully recover can develop new muscle pain, weakness, or paralysis as adults, 15 to 40 years later, the CDC outlines. This is called the post-polio syndrome.

Interim bail of Shahnawaz Amir’s mother extended in Sara murder case

A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Saturday extended the interim pre-arrest bail of Sameena Shah, mother of prime suspect Shahnawaz Amir, till October 3 in the murder case of Canadian national Sara Inam.

Shahnawaz, who was detained by the police from a farmhouse in Islamabad's Chak Shahzad area for being a suspect in his wife's murder confessed to committing the crime and said that he "thought" his spouse was having an affair with someone else. The couple was married for just three months.

In the police report registered following the murder, an additional clause of Section 109 (punishment for abetment) of the Pakistan Penal Code was added at the request of Sara's uncles Colonel (retd) Ikram and Zia-ur-Rahim, who have blamed Amir and his former wife for their niece's murder.

The petitioners maintained that Sameena has been living at the farmhouse where Sara was murdered.

On September 26, the court accepted the pre-arrest bail plea of Sameena Shah against a surety of Rs50,000 and directed her to join the probe.

Two fire brigade officials were killed and another wounded after armed assailants opened fire on them at a fire station in Karachi on Saturday.

According to police, the incident took place inside the fire department's office near Bilal Chowrangi in the Korangi area of the city in the early hours.

SSP Korangi Faisal Bashir Memon said that the attackers managed to escape after the gun assault.

According to an eyewitness account, Mehboob, and he (Zeeshan) was performing their duties at the fire station when two armed men stormed the building.

The armed men asked Mehboob about the rest of the employees and held them hostage at gunpoint. Meanwhile, they took all of them to the control room and opened fire on them, said the employee.

Two of the employees, named Amir and Mehboob died on the spot while another sustained bullet injuries.

The fourth employee, Zeeshan Siddiqui, anyhow, managed to flee the scene and hid himself inside the workshop.

"They opened fire at us after they rounded us up," said injured fireman Mohammad Irshad in a video statement.

The police said no CCTV cameras are installed at the fire station building. The deceased and the injured have been shifted to Jinnah Hospital.

Wrestling legend Antonio Inoki dies at 79

Antonio Inoki, a Japanese professional wrestling star turned politician, widely known for his match with Muhammad Ali and ties to North Korea, has died aged 79, after years of battling a rare disease, the company he founded said on Saturday.

According to interntional media, “New Japan Pro-Wrestling is deeply saddened at the passing of our founder, Antonio Inoki,” the company he started in 1972 posted on Twitter.

“His achievements, both in professional wrestling and the global community are without parallel and will never be forgotten.”

Inoki became one of the biggest names on Japan’s pro-wrestling’s circuit in the 1960s. His fame went global in 1976 when he had a mixed martial arts match with boxing legend Muhammad Ali, billed as “the bout of the century”.

The lantern-jawed, 1.9-metre (6-foot-three-inch) performer entered politics, winning a seat in the upper house of Japan’s parliament in 1989. He made headlines the next year going to Iraq during the Gulf War and intervening on behalf of Japanese hostages, who were subsequently released.

The wrestler, who converted to Islam in 1990, was immensely popular in Pakistan as well. In 1976, Inoki was challenged by Pakistani wrestler Akram aka “Akki” and when he came to Pakistan for the encounter, he was surprised to see nearly 50,000 spectators turn up for the spectacle at the National Stadium Karachi.

Two alleged terrorists were killed in the exchange of fire between CTD and terrorists. The CTD spokesman has said that the dead alleged terrorists belong to the banned organization.

As per the CTD spokesman, four police officials - Abid, Ashar Khan, Irfan and Maula Bakhsh were injured during the exchange of fire.

DIG CTD has said that the CTD team raided the place late at night, the exchange of fire is still going on, more personnel have been called in the area.
