General elections: Info minister assures impartial treatment to all parties

Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi has directed state media organizations to provide a level playing field to all registered political parties in the upcoming general elections.

He was addressing a ceremony during his visit to the Pakistan Broadcasting House, Karachi today.

The Minister said all the political parties should enjoy complete liberty to contest elections and the state media should desist from supporting or opposing any of them.

Solangi went on to add that it is the responsibility of the interim government to provide a favourable environment for free and fair elections where all political parties have the freedom to contest polls.

The information minister said that it is clearly written in the Constitution of Pakistan that the system of the country will be run by elected representatives.

Solangi said that it is the responsibility of the interim government to solve issues instead of making excuses. He resolved to solve the issues of Radio Pakistan and its employees.

Talking about Radio Pakistan, he said called it his dream to make Radio Pakistan the most modern organisation and that steps are being taken to improve it.

“Radio Pakistan transmission should be digital, and we are working to bring improvement in Radio Pakistan and PTV,” he added.
